US and Iran peace plan full details - end to hostilities “on all fronts” | BBC News
The US- Iran peace plan has been made public - with both sides agreeing to end all hostilities. 14 point memorandum includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, apparently with no tolls. The US has agreed to lift sanctions on Iran and to unfreeze Iranian assets held abroad. A $300 billion reconstruction plan for Iran is proposed although it’s unclear who would pay for it. And Iran agrees not to develop nuclear weapons, with both countries working together to remove any enriched material. The deal makes no mention of Iranian ballistic capabilities, or its support for foreign groups such as Hezbollah. President Trump said he hoped the deal would be signed tomorrow and has also said: Trump: “we’re going to bomb the hell out of them if they violate the agreement”. Clive Myrie presents BBC News at Ten reporting by James Waterhouse, Gary O’Donoghue and Lucy Williamson. Trump says Iran deal will be signed 'shortly' | BBC News
US President Donald Trump has said the framework for the Iran deal, which was set to be signed on Friday, could be signed as early as Thursday. Trump also said the US could resume attacks if the agreement doesn't work out - "If they don't behave, we'll go right back to dropping bombs right smack in the middle of their head." Three Iranian oil tankers have passed through a US blockade for the first time in two months. Around 600 vessels are currently stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. The memorandum agreement states the Strait will be toll free for 60 days. Israeli forces have carried out new strikes in southern Lebanon, state media say, despite renewed criticism from US President Donald Trump of Israel's actions in the country. Russian warship fires warning shots near boat off UK coast | Global News Podcast
A retired British couple who were on a yacht which had warning shots fired near it by a Russian warship in the English Channel said the experience was "surreal". Russia’s defence ministry said the yacht was on a “dangerous course” and that several attempts were made to contact it. This came hours after the UK government imposed further sanctions on Russian businesses and on ships accused of illegally transporting Russian oil and gas. It also followed the announcement that the UK defence minister had resigned over the UK government's lack of spending on defence and security. We speak to the BBC's diplomatic correspondent, Paul Adams, about the incident and the alleged security risks posed to the UK by Russia.
